Writing Transgender and Nonbinary Characters

April 24, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

90-minute session via Zoom

With demand for transgender and nonbinary narratives on the rise, more cisgender (non- trans/nonbinary) people are adding trans and nonbinary characters to their stories. But what can you do to make sure you’re providing accurate representation? In this session, we will explore the “Three E’s” of wanting to write a trans/nonbinary character (empathy, education, and empowerment), the best craft approaches for each, and their potential pitfalls. We’ll also go over inappropriate reasons to write a trans/nonbinary narrative, general do’s and don’ts, and an overview of the experiences most often used incorrectly in stories. *Class starts 11am PST/2pm EST.

$75.00
